Dr. Rizwan Aslam serves as the Interim Chair of Otolaryngology and the Program Director for Otolaryngology Residency at Tulane University Medical School. His extensive educational background and leadership roles highlight his commitment to excellence in the field and multidisciplinary expertise.

Dr. Aslam earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, setting the foundation for his medical journey. His internship in General Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine equipped him with valuable experience in surgical practice. Dr. Aslam completed his Residency in Head & Neck Oncology at the University of Cincinnati – College of Medicine. This focused training provided him with a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in addressing Head & Neck oncology cases.

His professional affiliations include being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), showcasing his commitment to maintaining the highest standards in surgical practice. Dr. Aslam’s comprehensive approach to patient care is complemented by his passion for educating future generations of Otolaryngologists through his involvement in residency training.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Aslam is actively engaged in surgery adjunct roles and is deeply committed to advancing the field through academic pursuits. His diverse educational background, including a Master of Science in Medical Education (MSMEd), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Public Health (MPH), equips him with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare administration and public health, enhancing his ability to provide holistic patient care.

Dr. Paul Friedlander, is the former Chairman and is Professor of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the Tulane School of Medicine. He is an accomplished Head & Neck Surgical Otolaryngologist, now serving as Chief of Otolaryngology at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Affairs Medical Center and practices head and neck surgery at Lakeside Hospital’s Multispecialty Clinic, East Jefferson General Hospital, University Medical Center.

Dr. Friedlander received his MD from the LSU School of Medicine. He completed his pre-requisite General Surgery training at George Washington University followed by his Otolaryngology training at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. During residency he identified Head and Neck Oncology as an interest and spent six months at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He then completed a fellowship in Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

As a devoted member of this community, he has focused on health care delivery for the underserved since 2010. He has worked with numerous faith and community leaders to improve head and neck cancer screening, access, and prevention in the Greater New Orleans area. His professional affiliations include Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgeons, and the American Head & Neck Society.

He has received recognition on the local, regional and national level. Highlights include: the American Cancer Society Spirit Award, the “Unsung Hero” Award from the C.L.O.U.T Ministerial Alliance, the Distinguished Service Award from the American Head and Neck Society, and in 2023 being an invited participant on the President of the United States- Cancer Panel focused on the Reduction of Cancer Inequities.

Dr. Neal Jackson, a Louisiana native, is Fellowship-trained and Board-Certified in Neurotology, the subspecialty dealing with hearing and balance disorders. After earning a Medical Doctorate (MD) degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Dr. Jackson then completed a 5-year residency training in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery. He went on to complete a 2-year Fellowship in Neurotology, Otology, and Skull Base Surgery at the prestigious Michigan Ear Institute, the largest neurotology practice in the country.

Dr. Jackson was recruited to Tulane University in 2018 to provide expertise in ear and skull base surgery. In 2019, he also joined the staff of Manning Family Children’s. He is passionate about providing specialized care to all of his patients.

Dr. Jackson sees children and adults of all ages in his clinics for any ear-related issue, including hearing loss, chronic ear infections, skull base tumors such as acoustic neuroma, facial nerve weakness, vertigo, etc. For those patients who would benefit from surgery, Dr. Jackson can perform a wide range of ear surgeries including cochlear implantation, ear drum repair surgery, ossicle reconstruction, stapes surgery, skull base infections and tumor removal, etc.

Dr. Matthew Migneron is a fellowship-trained facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, performing advanced procedures including rhinoplasty and skin cancer reconstruction to treat a variety of complex conditions such as nasal obstruction and defects resulting from the excision of skin cancers.

His journey in medicine began at Vanderbilt University where he obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts in Medicine, Health, and Society. He went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University before attending LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine where he obtained his medical degree.

Dr. Migneron completed his residency in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine before pursuing his fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine.

Throughout his academic and professional career, Dr. Migneron has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, compassion, and a commitment to serving his community. Dr. Migneron dedicated his time to various volunteer initiatives, including providing healthcare services to the homeless population at the New Orleans Mission Clinic and conducting health screenings for community members at the YMCA. He later served as a member of the Resident Medical Education Committee at Tulane School of Medicine, providing valuable input for the residency program’s curriculum development. He is also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society that signifies a commitment to professionalism, leadership, research and community-service. 

His comprehensive education and surgical training have equipped him with the skills required to address a wide range of facial plastic concerns with precision and expertise, and his leadership and commitment to patient care make him a valuable asset to Tulane.
